Main purpose of the role:
To provide day‑to‑day leadership across Vehicle Appraisals Production and Yard Operations, ensuring the timely delivery of high‑quality digital assets and efficient vehicle movements within agreed cost, quality, and SLA targets.
The role supports the Duty Manager – Production in people management, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and manage Production and Yard teams across a busy site
- Manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, training, and development
- Plan staffing levels effectively, managing absence and working time compliance
- Communicate performance, priorities, and targets clearly to the team
Operational Delivery
- Accountable for the timely production of high‑quality digital vehicle assets
- Lead daily yard operations, ensuring vehicles are stored, parked, and moved in line with the daily programme
- Ensure vehicles are prepared for sale within agreed SLAs, including barcoding, key control, and valet arrangements
- Log and secure/remove valuable items; jump‑start vehicles where required (training provided)
- Ensure compliance with BCA Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor and deliver productivity, quality, speed, and cost targets
- Liaise with central online teams and manage on‑site relationships with RAC, SMART repair, and enhancement partners
- Identify performance trends and support KPI setting and delivery with site leadership
- Refer customer or operational issues to the appropriate manager professionally
Working Environment
This role involves indoor and outdoor work. Yard operations are predominantly outdoors, requiring regular exposure to all weather conditions.
Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Team Leader or Line Manager in an operational environment
- Strong communication, organisational, and delegation skills
- Ability to motivate teams to meet targets and deliver results
- High attention to detail and pride in quality standards
- Passion for the motor industry
- Confident driving manual and automatic vehicles
- Full UK Driving Licence required
